Erik earned an M.B.A. from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. Mintz has twenty-six years of experience in the software industry. He spent the first eleven years of his career with IBM.
In late 2000, he founded his own software company, e2M Systems, which was acquired by Constant Contact in 2008. He worked for eight years with Constant Contact as Director, Market Intelligence. Mintz is now CEO of his second start-up called DealCoachPro Inc.
While at MIT, Mintz had a fascinating experience with $2 bills in an Economics class, which prompted him to begin researching the currency. He published an article called "What is Special About a $2 Bill?" Through this article, he came in contact with director John Bennardo and was subsequently interviewed for the film. Since childhood, Mintz has had a fascination with the $2 bill — so much so that he signed on as Associate Producer. The film includes data from his research, and to a large extent is structured around the information that he provided.
